Let's Do The Math.

At the end of my last post, I asked you to do the math on who is pulling the strings to what is happening in this country - for the time being, Perak in particular.

In Sri Lanka, the on-going and continuous fighting between the Sri Lankan military and the LTTE (Tamil Tigers) is nearing climax with the LTTE practically surrounded within an area of 50km. They are holding about 200,000 civilians as hostages and demanding a cease-fire.

Enter the US. The US military is considering military intervention calling it 'humanitarian' act to evacuate the civilian population. The US Pacific Command (PACOM) has drawn up a plan to land its Marine Expeditionary Force in the conflict zone. According to former US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jeffrey Lansteadas reported at WSWS.org, 'Lunstead called for the US "to play an important role in shaping Sri Lanka's future".

In other words, it's the US who decides what the future of Sri Lanka is going to be based on US interest.
And the US interest? 'the US has its own strategic agenda in Sri Lanka. The Bush administration backed Rajapakse's "war on terrorism" as a means of ending a conflict that was a destabilising influence in South Asia, particularly in India, which is becoming Washington's most important strategic and economic partner in the region.'

What is the US strategic interest in South East Asia/Malaysia? Keep your eyes and your ears open.
